  1. Lol, he would have got almost 2 ppb from pretty much any rock on the planet
  2. I would strongly advise you and your employer appoint a registered migration agent. For example, from you have posted, I am not certain even the position is eligible to be sponsored. I am far from certain that the role fits an occupation on the list and the role has to be full time
  3. It isn't the department you call. NEVERTHELESS call the department for advice, I know that sounds odd, but the people you speak to are just telephone customer service people. I would run it past a independent registered migration agent. We have a number of good ones who post on the forum
  4. It may be worth speaking to a registered migration agent to see if there is anything that can be done
  5. No, 489 and 190 can and should still get invitations on 65 points
  6. This happens every year. The points required go up and then come back down on July 1, though this year they may not fall to 65
  7. The points requirements reset (to some extent) on July 1. So, from this week, people with less than 75 should start getting invites. It will then rise again through the year
  8. You need to google each state.mfor example, google "Queensland skilled occupation list" you should also look closely at particular conditions imposed by each state
  9. Know loads of them who have been doing it for years. Very few have covered the costs. If he wants to go for it, pm me and I will send through some tips (i am an exploration geologist specialising in finding gold). But, my advice would be to assume it will be a hobby. The vast majority (over 99%) of gold in Australia is in rocks and at sub micron scale
  10. No. The eoi will not make any difference. It is the point you actually apply after being invited. If you haven't submitted an eoi yet, then it is fairly certain you will need 65 as a minimum as you won't get an invite and apply before July 1
  11. The same replies apply. You will need to speak to a specialist migration agent such as George Lombard
  12. If your job title is assistant manager. Then you do not qualify.
  13. Did you meet the criteria? If it says you must have a certain amount of years xperience, have you got that a a manager, as a assistant manager probably isn't enough
  14. All visa times have blown out a lot. For example, working holiday visas were normally granted within hours of applying. Now they are taking months. Parent visas were taking about 18 months, now about 5 years
  15. It would depend on any likely costs to the Australian government for treatment. It is always a good idea to speak to a specialist agent where there is a medical issue. George Lombard is one that is well known and regarded.
  16. Your visa never expires, but the travel portion of it does, which is the right to enter Australia. However, as you have identified there is a risk that you have cancelled the PR visa entirely by obtaining visitor visas. So, the first thing to do is check what is your visa status. You can do that here https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/busi/visas-and-migration/visa-entitlement-verification-online-(vevo) If your visa is still valid, then you will need to apply for a RRV, although you don't meet the requirements, they do show some leniency in cases like yours. However, you may need to be prepared to act quickly as they may only grant a 12 month RRV.
  17. Visa costs go up every year, normally in July. The wait times have been steadily increasing for some time, a couple of years ago, it was about two years. Today it is four years. The government have made it clear that it isn't a fan of parent migration full stop, so, it will slip further down the priority list for the department.
  18. It is payable in a couple of instalments, with the majority paid just before grant.
  19. The visa you want to look at is 143 The total cost of the visa is about $125,000 for two parents. Be aware this may increase soon. None of that is refundable. If applied on shore, a bridging visa would be granted. If applied on shore, very limited Medicare may be available. Once a visa is granted they would receive full Medicare. They would have work rights once granted. It is a PR visa. They would not be automatically granted work rights on a bridging visa. They would have no access to benefits while on a bridging visa and limited access for two years after grant. The current processing time is about 4 years, but this may increase significantly.
  20. For those thinking of building. A few tips, based on our build in WA: There is no such thing as a house and land package. That is just a marketing ploy by the house builders who look at the plots available and compare what designs they have that would fit on it, then call it a package. In reality, you buy the land and appoint the builder separately. Be careful with turn key packages and thinking it will include everything. Once you have signed the contract, you will start the "pre start" process. This is a lot of fun, where you have several weeks to chose everything that will by built from the kitchen to the brick colour. However, they will send you the details of your options and these can be fairly limited to what is in the inclusive price, then there will be a lot more options that will cost extra. You will then attend the "pre start" meeting which is basically an all day meeting to go through your choices. One of the big things is to decide where you want all your electrical points. This is important as in that "all inclusive" price, is only one electrical point per room. Obviously not practical, so the rest are extras you will pay for. We hadn't very good package, which the company abandoned shortly after we signed up because they realised it would send them bust, but even with that, expect to have $10 - 20k of extras. When choosing plots and developments, do make sure you consider things like surrounding infrastructure, ease of commutes, how nice surrounding areas are and the value of the houses there. Are the nearby areas "nice" or rough? Look at the tyre marks on the roads to see if hooning is an issue.
  21. There not rising everywhere. Far from it, so it depends where people are moving to.
  22. I would not recommend doing so until you have a visa in your hand. Never assume it is a done deal.
  23. Only post qualification full time experience is counted. You need to check what is required for the skills assessment for this occupation.
  24. The most important thing to remember is you only have a temporary visa and until you have a permanent visa, you have to assume that you will be leaving Australia in a maximum of four years. Possibly less. Do not assume that being a doctor offers more safety in that respect. The opposite as the government have stated they intend to remove medical occupations from the skilled lists which would prevent you from getting any further visa.
  25. At the moment, the system is very erratic and difficult to predict. However, do not assume Vic sponsorship is a given. They have a habit of refusing sponsorship.
