  1. Well, I guess you would expect deaths to decrease with lockdown. Just the road traffic deaths, plus slips and trips, pub casualties, reduced crime. Tbh, I'm loving lockdown. It's turned the UK into a utopia.

Nice finish. What did you cut that wit
  3. Holiday? Hate to rub it in, but this year the summer has been sensational, and the countryside is blisteringly beautiful. Just been on a two hour bike ride down bridleways and country lanes. Simply stunning. But it will probably pour down next year. Plus, the light traffic with lockdown is wonderful, but it's already picking up. I'm from Perth myself, and I try and get back once a year, and that's enough. Maybe you could August in Oxford after this madness gets back to normal?
  4. They do have IKEA in Perth. Not sure about the east. Have you compared prices?
  5. You seem to have an issue with debt, and it is something you should deal with. There's no problem with debt as long as it is used to invest wisely. Debt is a great facilitator for growth. Without debt we would be much poorer. You should start studying economics to work out how the world you live in works. You are limiting yourself by not doing so.
  6. Did you win them in a raffle? Just curious?
  7. I'm not an expert on this, but hopefully one will be along soon.
  8. They do it in Perth. Lovely.
  9. Political correctness gone good???
  10. Never tried witcherty grubs. I imagine they are like prawns. Can you buy them in Coles?
  11. I think you can live in Australia for as long as you want, but if you want pr you have to apply for it. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.govt.nz/browse/leaving-nz/travel-or-move-to-australia/&ved=2ahUKEwjClMb_lbPnAhXSEcAKHV1KDykQFjABegQIDhAG&usg=AOvVaw0cVPHoGg3LHEVpSqKj2Mra&cshid=1580657188687
  12. It's difficult / expensive to store electricity. If you have a large fluctuation in electricity use, you either need hydro to store, or you need surplus power generation on standby, which is expensive. So they try and predict peak use, and sometimes get it wrong. I guess that's why solar would be good for Australia, as it provides power when you need it. Although the cells lose efficiency when they get too hot. Plus Aust has other problems to deal with. Dust buildup can cause shorts. Plus I think Australian electricians don't work live, whereas they tend to work live more in the UK. Or so I was told, but I'm not an electrician.
  13. I've just been made redundant Marisa. I'm 53. I started looking for a new job about two weeks ago. I've had two first interviews so far, and have just been invited for a second interview. I work in IT. I wouldn't normally consider this time of year to be active for recruitment so close to Christmas, so I'm quite pleased. I had hoped for a bit of a break but doesn't look like I'll get it.
  14. I'm not an expert but my brother was born in Australia and he has citizenship. You should be able to apply for the birth certificate. Try searching on the south Australian government website.
  15. As an Australian living in the UK, inheritance tax is on my mind. I'm assuming my kids will get hit by it when I go, as even an average house goes over the limit. As an Australian, is there an easy way to structure your affairs to a avoid it? Would I need to become resident in Australia again? Would I be able to still hold UK assets?
  16. I think men use a funnel and a tube. I think women just cross their legs.
  17. What if you need a wee in the middle of the night?
  18. White asbestos isn't a problem. My local tip even takes it properly wrapped. As long as you wear proper gear or get it removed professionally, it's not a big issue. Or it's safest just to leave it. Most fences in WA are made out of asbestos in older suburbs.
  19. I haven't worked in Perth for many years, and I don't know your skill set, but would something like this suit you? https://au.jora.com/job/DevOps-Engineer-6cf37316c03910376171e84d314cc9f7?from_url=https%3A%2F%2Fau.jora.com%2FDevops-jobs-in-Perth-WA&sl=Perth+WA&sol_srt=7968ccd3-4e75-498f-8036-8b8a130eb5ab&sp=serp&sponsored=false&sq=Devops&sr=1&tk=1XvLx64NRdr1KWuvRlod-zeRJasJ6wnMX6gdiKKNl

If you are that confident, bet the farm mate! You could retire in style!
  21. I could sort of understand it if they guy was going to be sent back to Kenya or some such country, and he was going to suffer torment. But the UK? He could have come back, retrained and applied again. Australian immigration policy isn't the bees knees, and I can't understand why the UK wants to replicate it. But I don't think you should change the immigration system just because of an obvious case of mental illness.

    UK Passport

    I would get Australian citizenship.
  23. You could lend the money to your family and they could buy the house. I think there are rules on non residents buying property, but I believe they are allowed to buy brand new houses.
  24. Corbyn has his faults, but seeing him at the Grenfell towers, and seeing the Tory response, they are oceans apart. Corbyn has more compassion for the British people in his little finger than most Tory members. But I object to his state capitalism so I won't be voting for him. I actually want a hung parliament, but I'm not sure how you vote for that.
  25. If you just happened to have a handful of dog poo, and if you just happened to have Corbyn and JRM in front of you, and you couldn't split it? Do you want the people who caused the GFC or the people who made you pay for it? Tough choices.
