  1. We'll take the SIA flight if it goes, DFAT is the backup plan.
  2. How is the house hunting going?
  3. Yes I will be booking a mid-September flight if I can get on - it is too much of a risk to rely on our Singapore Airlines booking now.
  4. Brexit has made very little difference to supermarket prices, their supply chains have been prioritised. The challenge is getting one time larger items. For example a tree surgeon working on our street had most of his kit nicked from his van last week, and now expects a wait of weeks to be able to get hold of Stihl products from Germany, which in the past would have been in stock and easy to get hold of.
  5. So today a DFAT email has gone out with London to Darwin repat flights: Good morning, You are receiving this email as you have registered with DFAT as wishing to return to Australia. There are currently seats available on a facilitated commercial flight departing London on 1, 3, 11, 19, 21 and 29 August 2021. If you are wishing to return to Australia you should seriously consider this opportunity. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If anyone is planning to fly this year - even if you have a commercial booking - I strongly suggest you register with DFAT. Maintaining the demand is key to making sure the flight numbers in September to December are high enough.
  6. Yes Howard Springs doesn't look great. Not that keen on 12 and 8 years old having their own rooms with outside access. I can well image the 8 year old going exploring for a start. Unfortunately we might not have a choice, I finish up work at the end of August.
  7. It feels deliberate, like they want to discourage people from travelling.
  8. Join the club!! I think if you are in August and it is there now you have a decent chance! I am banking on the fact that the flight we have in September SQ223 is the one that continues daily into perth in July / August. Fingers crossed. It wont stop me booking a DFAT flight if I can get one as backup.
  9. You can check your flight on the SIA schedule. Looks like the below at the moment.
  10. The Good news is they have effectively waived the entry by date for the time being. There is something called a Travel Facilitation Letter! Travel facilitation letter request form (homeaffairs.gov.au) No need to cancel anything. I am sure they will expect you to move when things open up a bit, but for now no need to panic.
  11. When you do a Vevo check which passport comes up on the Visa? Use that one. Good luck with your flights!
  12. Certainly on the return leg the number of empty seats is not the point, the point is the caps. Most flights have only had a dozen or so people on them for months. The planes fly anyway with Cargo.
  13. Personally I wouldn't consider travelling separately at this time, and we are 3 citizens and a PR. The risk of being stuck for months and even years is just too high. That is life changing time periods.
  14. I seriously doubt it. They might offer insurance when you book, but that is not the same as including it in the ticket.
  15. You made a deal, you get into Australia, they get your skills and efforts for at least 2 years, and they hope you settle. You should keep your side of deal regardless of whether you could get out of it in my opinion.
  16. Thanks Pete Were trying to focus on the better high schools, so monitoring Suburbs around applecross, rossmoyne and maybe churchlands. All expensive of course. We lived in applecross last time we were in Perth.
  17. If you don't mind me asking whereabouts are you trying to rent? Are you finding good ones are gone quick or there aren't any good ones?
  18. You've done all you can. Good luck!
  19. There is an additional LHR to Darwin flight on the 23rd July on the DFAT link, so worth a look if you are ready to go. Looks like Economy is mostly gone already, Premium economy £2k ish.
  20. Remember that people who move their pets with no issues at all rarely post online about it.
  21. You won't see the flights cancelled, because they are mainly still flying only without passengers only with cargo. I find it hard to believe given Etihad will have reduced numbers that they have capacity, but as you say, they may have booked just before the cap reduction and got lucky - someone has to!
  22. Alan Lam one of the most in touch travel agents posted again on one of the groups that certainly Singapore and Qatar has emptied entire flights, so Business or even First class is not guarantee. I guess they might be keener to get you moved onto another flight.
  23. Take a look at this in term of likely requirements. You would need to get some advise on whether the Diploma is sufficient, and what experience you need. SRGO Infosheet_Financial-Investment-Adviser.pdf (vetassess.com.au)
  24. I have started to see 100% remote roles advertised, but not many of them part time. Part time roles are tricky at the best of times. Maybe talk to one or two agencies in the UK?
  25. Have you registered for DFAT flights? Honestly this is probably a better bet. I would say your chance of getting on that plane are slim to none. Could be wrong though as that is pretty soon.
