  1. Perth, I keep hearing this, but not sure if is the case for more expensive properties? My other slight worry now is that Quarantine rules might change for vaccinated travellers, then my accommodation will start 2 weeks too late!!
  2. We're flying Qatar and they indeed charge silly amounts on top, so we will be using a independent excess baggage company.
  3. Hi All Now I have sold the house, flights are booked for mid September, and I am looking at temporary accommodation. Found a nice unit on AirBnB - but the question is how many weeks to book? I would rather not have to move around, but don't want to book a month as the flexible booking does away.
  4. Thanks - the UK rules are ultimately to reduce numbers returning to the UK, so I don't think they care if you are not coming back for the foreseeable future. Yeah I might register for that, 3 out of 4 of us are citizens anyway.
  5. I mean I suppose it must be, but it doesn't actually list migration as a reason.
  6. Much as we miss not having pets at the moment, I don't envy you the additional stress of moving them.
  7. I think it isn't anyway, because you always change planes from LHR to PER, the main plane goes on to Mel or SYD.
  8. My concern with SIA is that you cannot transit Singapore to Perth, the stay on plane option won;t work as it isn't the same plane.
  9. I have booked flights. BLOODY HELL I HAVE BOOKED FLIGHTS! LHR - DOH - PER. Jesus. Booked. Wow. PANIC!
  10. We are looking at Qatar and for the four of us is is coming in at £2560 to Perth from LHR in Sep. No change in the cost in the past couple of weeks, but you are convincing me to get a booking in, even if we move it later on.
  11. Yes we will bring a container, the question is is it 20ft or 40ft. I good chance for a clear out anyway.
  12. Finally we have completed our house sale and moved into a rental! Utterly exhausted, and we need to get rid of a lot of stuff before we move to Aus...
  13. With who? Is this the government / Qantas repat flights?
  14. If you wife is Australian I don't think this is an issue, as you say you answered your own question, put temporary. Similar to Irish citizens in the UK they have a right to be there as long as they like, but they are not PR or citizens.
  15. I did exactly this and it all went very smoothly.
  16. There is no need to wait, I did mine at the same time. You can add the evidence of their citizenship to your application in your immi account later if you decide to add that. The kids citizenship has no bearing on your application really.
  17. Hi Ali The citizenship by descent process for your children is pretty simple, and it gets them dual citizenship straight away. Why wouldn't you do that? Putting them on your Visa will only get then PR and mean you have further applications to do later on. I never even considered putting the kids on my 309/100 application. I used the kids citizenship in my evidence of our commitment to each other and to move to Australia when they came through.
  18. I would be giving myself plenty of time to find somewhere personally - landlords prefer no pets generally for new tenants, so if you are up against those without you will miss out. Perhaps leave the cats here in a cattery they know for a month before shipping them?
  19. Good luck! I am sure you will be fine. After all this stress the first few days of quarantine will be restful I'm sure.
  20. I think you need to be prepared for flight cancellations, so have yourself a backup plan if you get cancelled at short notice - somewhere to stay for a few days at least. Lots of hotels can be booked with first night cancellation cost.
  21. Great news! We are awaiting exchange after 14 loooong weeks, our 2nd attempt at a sale.
  22. There are no guarantees your choice will result in a move to Australia, so make sure whatever you pick it is something you want to do as a career regardless.
  23. My boss is an Irish born CFO of an ASX listed company 15 odd years in Sydney which is now home.
  24. Glad to hear you have a confirmation. Good luck!
