Hi, We're new to pomsinoz. We moved to GC 3 months ago with our 3 year old daughter. We are originally from Essex. We are currently living in Merrimac. Everything is going ok so far, my hubby has found temporary work on the coast . He is an Electrician but it is taking ages to get his Electrical licence so he is working as a Trade Assistant at mo. Would be great to meet up with some fellow Brits to share experiences especially with kids the same age as my daughter. Also if anyone wants any info on Merrimac/Robina area happy to help.

There is a Gold Coast mums group on Facebook ( I have already joined) it gives loads of great groups and meet ups for mums in your area. Our son is only 8 months but I will be desperate to meet other people when I arrive. Happy to meet up when we arrive if you want?

Hi, Thanks for reply. I've had to re-register as I couldn't log back in with my other username, not sure what happened! Have found some good playgroups in this area and the librarys are really good as they do baby rhyme and story times and they are free. I have found a couple of good playgroups in the Robina area but there wasn't as many as I thought there would be. Everyone has been really friendly and I was lucky to have a friend here when I arrived. More than happy to meet up when you arrive as I haven't actually meet many british mums yet. When do you arrive?

Arrive in the middle of July. Im not British though Im an Aussie but feel pretty British after living here for 14 years now. I left Aust at 17 so I have never been an adult in Aust before so it will all be new to me. Hoping I fit back in though, Im already getting grief off some old school friends on FB for sounding like a pom!

Hi there, sorry taken so long to reply, I reckon your as much british now as Aussie!! I hope you have a good flight over, our daughter was 8 months when we first visited and it was a good age to travel. Not so easy once they can walk. Message us when you get here if you would still like to meet up.

Hi! We (me 31, husband 33, son 3, daughter 1) move to south brisbane area very soon. We fly on 10th August. My son loves socialising and pulling him out or nursery here is going to kill me! To meet up would be great with other like-minded people! Would make settling in so much easier! X

Hi, I know exactly how you feel, still feel so guilty about taking my little girl away from all her friends and family. She loved her pre school in the UK and has had a hard time settling into the day care here. It is a very different system. Let us know when you arrive and we can arrange to meet up.
