Que Sera Sera
Hi this is a question for my friends son. He is currently employed by a firm that is sponsering him. My first question is, if he is being sponsered by his employer, is there a time limit by which the employer has to apply for perminant residancy? Second question, could he obtain car finance/mortgage on this type of Visa? hope someone can help as I dont have a clue about these type of visa's. surflen22
Hi there Is he applying for a 457 or PR through employer sponsorship? I obtained car finance on a 457 and know of several people who have obtained mortgages - its not too onerous. If it is a 457 and he wants to move to PR, no time limits as such but do check out the section on Skill Select regarding the Transition Scheme which applies after 2 years. Assuming all criteria are met, he doesn't have to wait 2 years though and can apply through Direct Entry at any time.
