one for the parents!

Just thought id put it out there, mostly for new migrants (parents). I have seen mention of crb checks and working with children checks and just wanted to inform people how they differ.

In the UK, a crb is a pass or fail as such, I can only talk about nsw, but as it stands when an individual has a working with children check, they will receive an outcome. This is sent to the applicant and the employer, and it is currently up to the employer if they wish to employ somebody who poses a risk to children.

this was something I learnt, and thought it important that others be aware. It would appear this is changing early/mid 2013 to a pass or fail type system.

When I saw the word "parents", I looked up 'crIb checks!' Pulled up a variety of odd sounding sites too!

I saw 'crb' and thought it was 'crIb' when I saw a reference to 'parents' so I Googled it to see what would come up? Then I realized I'd made a mistake.

Details on applying for a criminal record check via the AFP is available at www.afp.gov.au.

Volunteers working in commonwealth funded aged care facilities should apply online and select name and date of birth - aged care volunteer, in the purpose field, to receive a reduced rate check. Reduced price checks are not available for paid employees in aged care and the final certificate will clearly identify that the check is for aged care volunteer purposes only.

its for sure the first google was search was slightly strange ha, good effort with the CRS but it is CRB, criminal records bureau which is a UK type police/ children check.
