First timers in Sydney - looking for some drinking buddies

Hi guys,

I'll be making the jump to Sydney in July and look like I'm in the same boat to most of you. I'm 25 and would love to get involved in some of your meet ups so it would be great to be informed of any happening.

Also, any advice people have got having already made the move would be much appreciate.

Thanks!

Are you coming on a WHV or for a longer period? Do you already have a job lined up? Maybe stay in hostel for first couple of weeks then find room in house or flat somewhere.

Try and get involved in the same sort of activities that you do at home. Sporting teams, clubs, classes. I went to my first "Meetups" group the other week - a creative writing night. Don't just go to pub (though that is exactly what I did!)

Guest The Pom Queen

Today I have removed a number of Facebook Links from this thread. Please read our guidelines with regards to FB which I have pasted below but can be found here:

http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/feedback-announcements/140595-facebook-other-forum-links.html

Please remember that it is considered bad internet etiquette to promote other forums whilst being on poms in oz. This is especially the case with FaceBook Links.

FaceBook posts and links are not allowed on the forum for various reasons. Not only is it bad internet etiquette, but members who decide to take others from PIO to post on FB are being very selfish and are not contributing to the forums that have helped them to find friends and answer questions in the first place, a lot of these FB groups would have no members in the first place if it wasn't for pomsinoz.

As with all internet forums PIO survival depends on members using and posting on the forums provided, if enough members stop posting on here and post on FB, then you could loose PIO and or its associated sites. Please if you are a new member and are approached by someone to leave PIO and join a FB group let admin or one of the mods know.

Promoting FB links on PIO can result in warnings, infractions and possible suspension of accounts.

PIO provide a PM system, a visitor message system and a secure email facility. You can even make your own group where you can leave messages for each other and discuss various aspects about Australia.

Please help to keep PIO active by using it and not abusing it.

 Thanks....

Hey everyone,

Sorry, not been on this thread for a while; hope everyone is still loving Sydney life?

Just to let everyone know, it is my 26th birthday on 30th July so I am planning a night out in Sydney next Saturday (27th July). Not 100% sure where we will be starting but a few of us are definitely up for it, and would be a great opportunity for as many of us as possible to cram into a bar, drink up, meet up and have some fun.

The more the merrier so watch this space I will let people know what bar as soon as possible, but if you can keep the evening free will be great to meet some new faces.

Hope to meet as many of you as possible, let me know if you are up for it?

Danny

Hey All,

I am another Brit that has recently arrived in Sydney for a new adventure. Working in the CBD and looking for some more people to socialise with. I am 29 years old and from North London.

Look forward to hearing from you!
