Hepatitis B+ - Visa 190 - Medicals???

Hi All,

I was diagnosed with Hep B last year. Last year I was told I was a carrier and do not require treatment, I am going through the tests again.

Can you please advise me what happens if my ALT/AST are slightly elevated.

What if I am recommended a treatment for a pill a day (viread/entecavir) that costs $15AUD per day.

I appreciate your responses.

Thanks:sad:

Hi killerbee82,

I have the same situation as you. May I know your current status of the visa 190 application? How long it takes for them to come to a decision?

I have submitted my PR application for visa subclass 190. I have met all the qualifications for the visa and was invited to apply. However, during the medical examination, they found that I am a hepatitis B carrier. I was referred to a liver specialist and he diagnosed that I inherited the condition from my mom. My liver function test is high, but I am not experiencing any damage to my liver at the moment. I have started treatment with Viread. My liver specialist has been in regular correspondence with the immigration. However, I am a bit worried that my application may be rejected on the basis of my health condition. I think I had the medical on October last year but haven’t heard anything back until now.

What is your profession? As I read DIAC page for medicals, it says it requires Hep B test only if you are in medical or cookery profession. And that makes sense to me. Please share as your medical assessment comes along. I also have similar condition which is worrying me. I need to be sure if it is a hurdle which certainly blocks the road to the PR. I've not started the process yet, so that I could save time and money.

they will also do the test if you have history, have more than a couple of small tattoos or have many piercings

hey....im spouse of an applicant who works in the hospital.......i was not a secondary applicant and yet my medicals are still required and it almost made his visa rejected..

they would make u wait very long and the last reply would ask you if you got any appeals or supplementary info to provide for your situation or else they would give u a decision in 28 days...

which is a very negative reply....i divorced my partner..n his PR got granted immediately.....I guess if i insisted it would jeopardize his visa...

my condition is diagnosed long ago n the medical expense fully supported by my own government...but they are still judging my case as a negative one....btw..im under viread..a pill each day...liver functions very normal...

Hi vickywan, I too have similar medical condition. I am worried like hell now. How many times did they refer your medical and what kind of further tests did they require you to do e.g., HBVDNA and liver function? They made you wait for very long, how long was that? Sorry for so many questions but I believe you fully understand my feeling and situation. Many thanks for your info!

You MUST declare this condition

.

You would be well advised to seek professional advice from a registered migration agent.

I agree - this is a pre-existing medical condition and need to be declared. At the time of the medical provide any other information regarding your condition - provide a letter from your Dr.

i do not know how many times..but it just too half a year for them to clear it and give me a result...

they have only asked me to seek expert report once....

i think if you are under medication like me..it means ur virus level is up to a certain level...n dey r judging by this.....

i think the use of a migration agent is wise because the experienced ones can tell you what you might expect in your case and you will be prepared ...at least...

I just had mine tested last week and report now says my viral level is less than 500IU/ml. Doctor told me the system at the hospital cannot detect exact level if it is less than 500. Though my ALT level is little higher than the range and my doctor says it might be because of fatty liver, however liver biopsy result shows there is no abnormal condition. I am on diet these days and running everyday, and will get it tested again in a month. Will do whatever I have to do as long as I can get through all this immigration stuff. Of course, health is much more important than immigration. :-)

What was your viral level then when they assessed your medical as not up to a par with the standard? Thanks for sharing your experience.

Hi killerbee82, shanshui and all who are in process of migration while being Hep B infected.

I'm just interested where you are now and did you manage to receive visa with this illness.

At the moment I'm also Hep B carrier with viral load negative and perfect liver condition (liver fibroscan - F0). I've already went through medical check and now extremely worried about the decision of DIBP.

I would be grateful if someone share positive or negative experience.
