calNgary
I thought you had to be a citizen to undertake any gov or defence jobs here. Maybe drop these guys an e-mail to double check. http://www.defence.gov.au/agsva/ Cal x

dmjg
Agree with cal, you need to be a citizen before you can do any job associated with the defence forces. My oh is a nurse and even with PR couldn't work at a base hospital until she has her citizenship.
Danny842003
It depends what he means by in defence as BAE have big interests in Australia and I know people work for BAE out there without citizenship.
Guest
Clearance cannot be transferred. But if you are working here temporarily, your status can be recognised by the agency under the Five Eyes agreement. Alternatively, if your company and agency want to employ you badly enough they can sponsor you for a citizenship waiver and you can then go through the Australian clearance processes. That said AGSVA are tightening things up to make getting waivers even harder.
rafIeng
Thank you everyone I have done some digging , and the only way is , if the employer sponsors you and you get a citizenship waiver , then you can get into the defence industry. hope this gives some help to others. coastie
Sorry a bit late but the feedback I've got from several defence companies is that there are very few defence jobs being advertised and, when they do advertise, they get lots of applicants who are already Australian Citizens. Therefore no incentive to go through the Citizenship Waiver process. Coastie.
CaptainR
Sorry a bit late but the feedback I've got from several defence companies is that there are very few defence jobs being advertised and, when they do advertise, they get lots of applicants who are already Australian Citizens. Therefore no incentive to go through the Citizenship Waiver process. Coastie. That's very subjective, its all supply & demand based upon the job. The more unusual or rare the skillset the less competition of course, whereas less skilled jobs will see fiercer local competition. If a company wants you, they will of course arrange the citizenship waiver.
