New toowoomba bypass

I thought everywhere in Australia had parks and trees...where are you  it's 25c in Toowoomba atm...just saying :)

We are down in Echuca, they take the temp in Kyabram but that is 30 mins SOUTH. Some people love the place but its not for me, being very honest the only "park ??" is down near the river, which some swim in but you would not get me in that dirty water with all the stuff the paddle wheeler throws out. There are trees of course but nothing like toowoomba it is just to hot and "dry" The shopping center is OK i guess even though it is small but the issue is if you want to go somewhere where there is a decent hospital, or larger type retail stores well they at 90 minuets away and apart from a small couple of towns on the way which are only a hand full of street there is nothing in between. Melbourne is 2 1/2 - 3 hours away. One train a day to and from Melbourne. But it is where there is a job so that is what you have to do.

Yep have property up there and i can hear my bank balance growing

Have you looked at the Well Camp airport sight what an amazing thing the wagners are doing. New airport in 2 years start to finish with an international size runway

Hope you're right Tina2 but as a visitor to Toowoomba on a few work trips I just can't see what it has going for it. It's got a pretty average leisure centre and a few decent pubs and that's about it. I think the bypass will just give another reason for people not to go there and will lead to less people visiting and using facilities.

If I end up having to stay the weekend, which is pretty often, it's not worth flying back to Perth but I refuse to stay in Toowoomba and drive to the Gold Coast or Brissie for the weekend and back on Sunday arvo. Just not enough to do.

It is an excellent city for retirees.

Cheers, Bobj.

Hi Paul, understand your point, Toowoomba is one of those place you love or hate. If you are into the "happening" type city with lots of night clubs open till 2am or what ever, packed beaches, lots of major shopping complexes then no its not for you. But there are a growing number of families who are looking for a different life style, a place that is quieter where families want to get back to going to the park on the weekends with the kids, "country" schools where kids are not ordered into lock down constantly, teaching kids to spend there spare time learning to grow there own food as part of the family and as Bob said great for retirees. Not in any way knocking what you have said, just saying there are those who love the life and there is no doubt it is growing.

That's what it felt like BobJ. God knows what the youngsters do though. Few seem to like driving up and down the main street and just generally hanging around, like youngsters do.

No as i said the people who choose to move there are "different" they value there time as a family and the kids spend there spare time in sport, or doing things with their family or part time work for those old enough. There are also a lot of kids in Boarding schools so they are all involved in school sports or lesure activities on the weekends with there school friends, organised by there schools.
