Gilllian
When in the UK it was essential to tip removalists but is the same done here in Perth when the removalists arrive with your stuff from UK? Never tipped while moving within Australia which is why I'm not sure what the custom is
AJ
Why was it essential in the UK? We have never tipped (money). Give them a six pack to share out once the job is finished! Do you get tipped to do your job?
Guest
We never tipped any in the UK. Not did we tip this end in Aus.

fensaddler
Didn't tip the gang who moved us in originally, as they were surly and unhelpful. I did tip the guys who moved us between houses as they went out of their way in difficult circumstances, and did an excellent job cheerfully. But generally, tipping is far less part of the scene here, because people tend to be better paid in the first place. I can't remember the last time I tipped in a restaurant here - it just isn't part of the culture in the way that it is in the UK and particularly the US. northernbird
I tipped at both ends as I got fantastic packers and unpackers.

I'm Australian - I always tip in restaurants..........not the pub, but anywhere beyond that....
Gilllian
Thanks everyone. I'll see how well they unpack when they arrive and take it from there.
Tickled Pink
I tip based on service, not because I feel obliged....
Alaska
No. They sliced our headboard when opening it and wouldn't admit responsibility. They refused to put together Ikea furniture which was fair enough as we knew about that, but they also refused to put up anything that they classed to be "Ikea style" furniture which was basically everything else. We had booked the package for disassembling and reassembling so couldn't get my head around that one. They were in and out in a couple of hours when we were advised they would be around for most of the day, so no.
gpo1971
I tipped a girl in the pub on our 2nd day here and she looked at me like I was a sex criminal. So, I haven't tipped anyone since.
jen85
Its not customary in Australia to tip anything other than hospitality i.e. restaurants. If you want to that's up to you.
Daveakaginge
I tipped at both ends as I got fantastic packers and unpackers. Very much this. If you get a very good service, then tip, we did.
