kaycee
Hi Guys, Iam a little bit confused on how this forum works, I just joined and I have aquestion to ask regarding Vettassess assessment for Occupational health andsafety advisor role. I have a BSc In biology and an MSc in environmentalmanagement, over 5 years experience in OHS (3 years after my BSc and the restafter my MSc in 2010). I also hold a NEBOSH certificate in OHS from England, Iam confused if Vettassess would assess me positive. my question is would vetassess consider my Nebosh certificate since I have a Masters degree in environmental management? Also, would my OHS experience before getting a masters degree and Nebosh certificate be considered? Can someone who has passedthrough vetassess OHS assessment throw more light on this for me. Cheers. Guest The Pom Queen
Hi @kaycee I'm not sure if we have any OHS members around. Have you tried running your case past an agent?
kaycee
I just got a negative outcome; but I believe my case officer was very biased in his judgement. I would have to take this up with a migration lawyer soon.

JEM44
Hi there, only just seen your thread. I have a positive assessment for this role with Vetasses and we are due to move in 7 weeks. Unfortunately I don't think you would meet their criteria. They would not consider NEBOSH diploma, or anything that was not specific as a degree. Mine is in environmental management and a NEBOSH diploma in H&S. In the end I had to undertake an MSc in H&S and then get 12 months experience post my MSc, the 15+ years as an H&S manager was in their view, irrelevant! Hope this helps. Laura The reason was, that my educational qualification was not highly relevant; they discredited my NEBOSH cert. According to the report, my NEBOSH cert was not recognized by NEBOSH UK. For me, this showed that it was wrongly verified as i called NEBOSH and they were surprised. Only my MSc degree was assessed leaving out my BSc and other OHS certificates Regarding work experience: My work experience was not highly relevant to the ANZ code; this part was a little bit confused to me as my skills and job roles provided on my cv and reference letters from my employers matched the codes requirement, also they contacted my employers, with a different email from the one i provided on the reference letter; however my employers also replied their query. So i am surprised at the decision they took. The code on their website, states that if your education is not in ohs, they would consider other OHS trainings and certificate obtained on the job for a closely related degree on a case by case basis. I am surprised as how both a Microbiology degree, NEBOSH cert and 4 other OHS certificates including first aid training certificate and OHS work experience would not be considered. I would send a polite email to them by next week, because i think i was not fairly assessed.

This occupation has fairly high unemployment in Australia at the moment

I spoke to my case officer this week, I was advised on what to do, which I have already done. Just applied for a review today. Looking forward to a better outcome this time around. I was told it would take between 10-12 weeks.

Raksha12
Dear Kaycee, I am new on this thread, will you please share your experience on your positive assessment after receiving negative earlier for both education and experience. I have also applied for Occupational Health & Safety Adviser and got negative assessment as according to them my qualification does not meet the criteria (not highly relevant study) . I have completed Bsc in Environmental Science in India. They recognize some of my job duties in OH & S. Please help.
