Can I take ......

We just scrubbed everything and wiped it in jeyes fluid.

I'm not even convinced that they moved anything in our box, as the way I packed it seemed untouched.

Anyway leave things like tools and bikes at the front so they can check them easily. I wouldn't worry about pollen going on things after cleaning.

But can I take quite a large Ammonites fossiil that I have since I was a boy? I presume as long as it has been well cleaned this should be OK?

Yes should be fine, just clean it, make sure the box is labelled and declare it for customs. They may want to inspect shell/rock items.

Hi again, I know Australia is strict on bring wood in, but I presume frames pictures that have a wood frame will be ok?

Yes this won't be a problem. The important thing is to just itemise/label any boxes clearly stating the contents. In this case, picture frames (wood).

My belongings just arrived a couple weeks ago and we had a lot of wood items. All got through OK.

Many thanks for the quick reply, may I ask who you used for shipping?

I used Sevenseas MoveCubes so I self packed and had to fill out all the customs paperwork myself.

I've just started researching what looks to be a nightmare on how and what to take. One company said our TVs need to have wooden boxes to transport them at a cost of £250 each! Is this the same with all companies?

Or the original packaging. They are easily damaged otherwise.  Saying that I packed my sons in a box altered to fit and made sure screen was secured with nothin touching it. Then packed in move cube. No issues still works fine. The cube was fully packed with any gaps filled with cushions or towels.  Nothing could move inside.

It won't be the same for all companies.  However if you don't want to pack them in a wooden box OR their original packaging, leave them behind. They're only going to arrive broken otherwise.

Regardless of the packaging I wouldn't take it anyway.

1. The tuners are different here - you might not get all the channels (if any?)
2. If it's a smart TV most of them can't be changed to a new region. You might be stuck with the British apps that you can't use in Australia and unable to install Australian apps.

Brought my TVs and had no issues.

Ours were fine, just well packed by the professionals I guess.

Has anyone taken their Sage Espresso Coffee machine Australia. If so do they work fine?

I don't see why not.  The issue is that they're not sold here, so if something goes wrong with it, your chances of getting spares/a repair are slim.   As far as I can see, most of the Sage models are the same as the Breville ones here so you might be OK (Breville owns Sage).

Ahh amazing I just spent £600 on it then had a moment of oh what have I done. If it breaks then i would need to import parts as it only comes with a UK warranty.

I would sell it here and buy locally. All the major cities have several outlets selling Prosumer coffee machines, servicing\repairs etc will be so much easier with a machine available locally. You also won't have to wait 3+ months before you can start marking coffees again, at $5 a pop in the local cafes you will probably save money 😄

Yes

Yes

If you're handy with a screw driver, very easy.  $3 or so for the basic plugs from Bunnings.

Caveat - some states think you might burn/flood your house down if you change a plug or a tap washer and have declared it illegal.

Wicker declare but be aware they may charge you for fumigation or destruction! Depends on the day it seems. Some get through ok others not.
Dyson yes clean really well and wash/wipe off any obvious dust

Changing plugs is not difficult try it before you leave. Bring adapters for those that can’t be changed (transformer types) and put an Aussie plug on that.
Be aware that some states like Queensland forbid you to even change plugs!

Thanks, this is really helpful. Think we will take a chance with the wicker, declare it, and see what happens.

Just been googling how to change a moulded plug. Looks pretty easy. Might give that a go on some of my power tools. I kind of assumed that modern moulded plugs would be a nightmare to change, compared to the older style ones that just unscrewed. Only thing is I won't know if it actually works until I get to Australia and plug it in !

And yes, my wife did tell me that we can't mess with electrics in Australia. We are moving to NSW, and need a few light switches changed over. It's not really where my expertise is, so will probably get someone in for all that.
