EmmaLouise
Hi, we are looking at moving over to perth from QLD next year, our son is going into grade 7 and a keen tennis player we have seen that a couple of school offer a tennis excellence program, John Forrest school and Applecross school. Does anybody have any views on these schools TIA
ali
Applecross has a good reputation, it's a slightly more expensive suburb to live in, but I know someone who lived out of area but accepted into a specialist programme. You may find that you have to go through some selection process to get accepted into a programme. Testing dates for 2019 will have passed so you will need to contact the school to see if they will offer a test date (the program may be fully subscribed). Test dates for 2020 are: March 7th, May 30th and August 1st.

The suburb of Applecross is a little expensive but there are other areas within the catchment area that might be more affordable. As I said, someone I know lived out of the catchment but their daughter was accepted into a specialist programme … but I think it depends on available places. Priority is given to living in the catchment - so if this turns out to be your school of choice I'd look for accommodation within their catchment to be sure. The school has a map on their website

Jon the Hat
We are planning on Applecross SHS catchment as well. Applecross itself, Ardross and Mount Pleasant are quite expensive, but it is cheaper as you move south into Booragoon.
