Duration in Australia requirement for age pension

Hello,

I have read it's 10 years resident but with 5 years that must be continuous.

Would this count for citizens who do not live in Australia at the moment but have spent 2 years in Australia a few years ago 2012 to 2014. (now back in UK but planning to move permanently back to Australia in the near future).

Many thanks.

If you’ve spent most of your life in the UK then you’ll be entitled to the British pension, which you can claim even if resident in Australia

It's not only a matter of can claim. If you want to claim the Aussie Age pension you have to claim the British pension first if you have any entitlement. The amount you get from the British pension reduces the amount of the Aussie Age pension they have to pay.
