Pominthebay
I still own a small number UK shares. Last time I sold some via an Australian entity most of the value disappeared in large fees. Has anyone any experience in selling UK shares?
Archimedes
Are the shares in public or private companies? If public, could you not just instruct a UK broker to sell the shares and wire you the funds? I am sure there are online brokers which can do this for you or high-street brokers in the UK where you can set it up over email/phone. I am still in the UK but most of my investments are with Vanguard - If I moved to Australia and I wanted to cash in on the UK investments I would just log on to the app, sell the shares/funds/ETF's and transfer the proceeds to my Australian bank account. The annual limit for CGT allowance in the UK is £11,700 for 2018/19 so, for me at least, no CGT would be due. Pominthebay
Thanks, Archimedes, but it's not legal and UK brokers won't do it. Pominthebay
