JetBlast
Hello, A few days ago I read someone who was struggling to get home broadband due to having no credit history. I have had a bank account in Australia for around 9 years or so. It has always had a balance and a healthy one at the moment. However I haven't borrowed any money. I am wondering if this account will help build a credit history please? Thanks
Jon the Hat
Not unless the system is very different to the UK. It might be a suppose, but generally they look to see a history of borrowing and repayment, plus assess your ability to pay from your income and outgoings. Marisawright
The recent experience someone had with broadband was the very first time I had ever heard of credit history being an issue in Australia. So I’m not sue if anyone knows how it works yet
LouDYorkie
There has been changes to credit scoring in Australia by the look of it and some come into effect fully this year.I’m not suggesting this link is comprehensive but if anyone is interested it might give you a start on researching it... https://www.srgfinance.com.au/blog/the-biggest-factors-that-affect-your-credit-rating/
