Hello, so my half brother & his girlfriend are permanent Aussie residents in Perth WA. Myself, partner & our 3 children want to migrate there with them. Does anyone know what visa/sponsorship we could do and also a reputable migrant agent here in the UK that could help us please?

You will need a career that falls under one of the jobs detailed in the Skilled Occupations list and also be able to satisfy the education/experience requirements for that job.

The list can be found on each states immigration webpage.

Being able to take a business isn't enough, you need to first be deemed skilled in that career based on what Australia determine skilled means. I would suggest you contact a Migration Agent for a full and frank assessment. In terms of location it doesn't matter whether they are in the UK or Australia everything is done by email and phone anyway.

@paulhand@WESTLY are both well respected on here.

Thanks for your reply.Does Overhead Powerlines not come under the skilled occupations he’s done this for 20years, this is what his surveying business is now but could go back to climbing and doing faults. Can you recommend any agents as there are so many?

Before you do anything look into running a business such as that in your chosen state, running a business in various states is controlled by the state and there a lot more requirements to be registered and licensed in many professional businesses than there are in the uk

I can't see Overhead Power Lines Surveyor on the list of acceptable jobs

The closest is Power Generation Operator - this is only open for Tasmania and the Capital Territory (so not Perth)

Surveyor is on the list, requires a degree and only available in Tasmania and Capital Territory again (Unless you did the degree in Western OZ and then WA is an option)

Family sponsorship can in some cases gain you extra points to hit the threshold, or make your application more competitive, but you still need to be admissible with a career on the Job List in the first place

Also can family in Perth not sponsor us?

Family can't simply sponsor someone. That was abolished decades ago.

Family can sponsor via a points based system, but in some aspects it is actually harder than some other visa options.

My advice would be to contact a good registered migration agent such as Go Matilda.

You would need to be very mindful of a lot of extra things. For example. Electrical qualifications are often not recognised. The process is like,y to cost 30k and a range of other issues. Alan at Go Matilda is both an excellent agent an a specialist in UK / business and finance

Just to clarify when you say 30k are you talking dollars not pounds?

If so half it for the cost in pounds. Still not a cheap thing though

No it’s pounds, and is a rough guide to the amount of money you’re likely to burn through while you get set up in Australia  (including the cost of living while you look for work) , based on the experiences of members.
