vongole83
Hi I recently moved to Australia on a 100 visa with my partner who is an Australian citizen. I am a little confused as to whether I should be applying for my own Medicare card or getting added to hers. Is there an advantage/ disadvantage? We are a family of 3 (Us 2 and our 11 month old son if it makes any difference) Thanks
Quoll
Wont matter. We have a family card, we each get our own card and they distinguish between us by using the card number plus the person number on the card. Cant see why it would be either an advantage or disadvantage (other than if one of you wanted to take your kid to a medical intervention, you'd need to be sure you had their card in your pocket but if you were all on the same one you'd only have to be sure to take your card and your child will be listed thereon)
Marisawright
Better to be all on the one card as then you can benefit from the Safety Net. Bit even if you are all on one card, you each get a separate copy Edited June 27, 2021 by Marisawright
vongole83
Thanks both - I think we will just all go on the one card
