Jon the Hat
Sorry to hear that.  DFAT is all you can do at the moment, hopefully the London to Darwin September flights are imminent, and as you are ready to go you should be able to take advantage of the shorter notice ones.  Make sure you put details of your situation in the comments box at the bottom of the DFAT form - and include your cancellation details in the form as well. You could also email or call consular services to make sure you get the email. Demand is high so they will sell out in 20-30 minutes I expect, although your chances are higher if you can take the ones a week out rather than 3 weeks. Good luck!
Quoll
It happens unfortunately. Â Not much you can do except keep checking for flights but given the state of the country at the moment (unless you are heading for Perth) I dont much fancy your chances. Â Perhaps looking for casual work to keep the wolf from the door and also maybe save to get business class or, heaven forbid, first class seats - they do say you are less likely to get bumped off them. Â Dont sweat it about the kids, the school year doesnt start here until the end of January (foreign country, different education systems) and kids come and go all year round so they arent the issue. I hope your temporary accommodation allows you to stay so that the kids can get back into UK school in a couple of weeks.

We are a week later that last month already so should be next week.
