Cots
Hi all, Asking for my friend. Her 82 year old dad is really unwell with lung cancer in Jersey where we are from. She is now an Oz citizen. She’s going to apply for the exemption because she has to try. What are peoples knowledge and experience of applying to leave temporarily under compassionate grounds? rammygirl
We looked into it a while back for similar reasons. You need to intend to stay for at least three months and submit evidence to show you can do this as well as medical evidence. The three month thing was the problem for us we just could not stay for so long.
Marisawright
It costs nothing to apply so she may as well give it a go. She'll need medical certificates etc to prove how ill he is. If she can prove he can't manage without her, that would make a big difference. As Rammygirl says, she would also have a better chance if she is going for an extended absence (more than three months).
