wrussell
Try searching visitor health insurance Australia. If your parents are eligible for reciprocal cover and need treatment do not mention private health insurance.
Quoll
Won't they get travel insurance from UK? Mine always did. Someone like Staysure

JetBlast
If they are British and live in the UK they can get Medicare under the reciprocal agreement. https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/reciprocal-health-care-agreements-visiting-from-united-kingdom?context=22481

So many things can go wrong and not everything is covered under Medicare.
Amber Snowball
Also medicare wouldn’t cover them if something happens in transit. Like slipping over and breaking a leg in Singapore or something. 3 hours ago, Tulip1 said: They would still be wise to get travel insurance. JetBlast
It does mean the level of cover required can be reduced.

Do you mean you apply for health insurance and mention you are eligible for reciprocal health so they subsequently reduce the premium? For some health insurance, there are two different policies, one for full cover and one for people who can access reciprocal care.

Ah I wasn’t aware of that, Marisa - thank you for letting me know. Do you have any advice as to which companies do this?
