teejaybee
Our plan is to move to the peninsula area of Melbourne in the near future so my partner can be near her family. Pet import permits have been granted and we have provisionally booked quarantine although dates may change. Initially we are planning on renting whilst we weigh up the local housing market(looks very expensive right now). My question for the forum is how difficult is finding a rental property that takes pets ?. My partners daughter has mentioned it should be no problem as she has friends with pets that always find rental properties ok. As an individual who likes assurances that this is possible what advice can the forum members give me. Thanks in advance.
Marisawright
Finding a rental property is generally tough right now as there's a rental crisis. If you're looking at a house not an apartment, pets shouldn't be a problem, especially if they are small dogs (for some reason, agents seem to think small dogs are less destructive).
Parley
You can't be discrimnated against for having a pet according to new laws in Victoria. This might help https://tenantsvic.org.au/advice/during-your-tenancy/pets-and-your-tenancy/
