Movingdownunder1
Hi I’m a uk fully qualified sparky with over 15 years experience possessing all relevant uk qualifications (JIB GOLD CARD, C&G quals, BS7671, SSSTS, ISOH etc etc) currently working as an NICEIC QS in the renewable energy sector on PV installations. My partner and I have just started the ball rolling on emigrating down under on her visa as she’s an oncology nurse specialist. But I’m just after some advice for the steps to get my skills assessed? Is it worth trying to start the ball rolling before we get out to Australia with the hope to eventually get my licence? All and any advice or suggestions are welcome

The bad news is that it's a bit of a long haul. Chances are you will have to work for about 12 months as an assistant to a licensed electrician before you can go out on your own. https://www.tradesrecognitionaustralia.gov.au/electrician-general-and-special-class https://pathwaytoaus.com/blog/how-to-work-as-an-electrician-in-australia/ Edited May 31 by Marisawright
rammygirl
The assessment for immigration purposes doesn’t qualify you as a licensed sparkie here you need to look at licensing in the state you will be in. Follow the links above. Just in case you hadn’t realised this as many people think that passing the migration assessment means you can work unsupervised
