Ajay2024
Hi everyone, I have been struggling to get a good broker who can get me an expat mortgage. I moved back to Australia (after spending 9 years in the UK). I have just started a job here and would like to get an expat mortgage for the property I own in the UK. It is currently on consent to let (high interest rate). Could one of you please point me in the direction of a broker who will be able to source an expat mortgage. I don't wan to sell my property there as the prices are not too good , so I would like to keep it for another 3 to 5 years.
Marisawright
I have never used these company but they have a good explanation of what expat mortgages are: https://www.charcol.co.uk/mortgages/specialist-mortgages/expat-mortgages/ https://themortgagegenie.co.uk/mortgages/expat-mortgages/#expatm5 You may not save any money by switching to an expat mortgage as the interest rate is higher than an ordinary UK mortgage, so check the costs carefully.
Ajay2024
Thanks Marisa. I have to switch to an expat mortgage as I am renting the property out. I understand the rates are high but the rent should cover it.

Ajay2024
yes but it is for a limited period of time (and the bank has added another 1 % on top of normal rates) and I also have help to buy (and they dont support consent to let for more than 2 years).
