Guest guest24485
Hi there, when I said 'young family' my wife disagreed with me. She says I am old (29). So I agreed with her. Anyway, we are arriving in Darwin on the 6th April and not knowing many people there ( we sort of know 1 family from on here), we are on the lookout for friends. We have a 2 year old daughter who is like a mini tornado, Morgan, and then there's the wife and me. We both like socialising but don't do much of that in the U.K cos we live in the sticks. We don't bite and like to have a good laugh so if anyone is interested in showing us the Darwin lifestyle please get in touch. We are hopefully going to be living in the Durack area. Thanks Steve:smile:
Guest paradisi
head off to the bowling clubs - sounds wierd but that's where "OLD" people go - and I mean old people of your ages - - I first went there in 86 and was 30 something - fitted in brilliantly - some real old people (60+) but a lot in their late 20's and 30's with kids - and playing bowls bare foot
Guest paradisi
head to the bowls clubs - - sounds crazy but darwin Bowls clubs (there's three I think) are full of "old" people around about 29 I first went there in the 80's - as a thirty-something and fitted in perfectly. Older people all the way to their 90's but a lot of 25-35 year olds and their kids Darwin bowls club is near the beaches and casino nightcliff is in the suburbs and a little "walled" community litchfield is at humpty do an dthere is one other in town - but can't remember where
seaangel
There are a lot of families living in Durack, especially military ones so am sure you will not have a problem meeting people. There is The Hub in Palmerston, or you can go into Darwin itself. Cullen Bay is nice, with some nice restuarants. Also, Stokes Hill Wharf in Darwin is great. Get to sit outside and watch the boats go by, with a few different restuarants/takewaways to choose from. Also, once the dry season starts, you'll have Mindil Beach market which is fab!
