Guest P&K
Hi, Well, I arranged a meetup last Friday and although it was good fun it wasn't quite the turnout I was hoping for - just one other couple apart from us! But I'm persistent. This business of emigrating is great, but it's also hard sometimes so it would be nice to meet a few other people that are going through the same thing. So if anyone fancies meeting for a drink, Friday 30th October, the Valley, 8pm then let me know. Hopefully meet you soon. Kate
Purple Princess
Hi Kate Sorry to here about the disappointing turn out,we're hoping to land in town late November/early December so you can count us in for a meet up and a chat, and possibly a couple of vino's.!!!! Keep us posted on what's happening and hope to see you soon, Rich Steph & Hannah
Guest The Macs
Hi Kate, We would def like to meet up with other people in the same boat!!!. We have a got a 3 year old little girl so if we can get a baby sitter for that date then we'll def come. I have not been out on the town for 6 months!!!, well since we left the U.K ( my 65 year old father has a better social life than me!!!). How long have you been here??, how are you finding it?. It's been good for us so far, but I've recently been getting homesick so need to get out there now & socialise!!!!. My husband has been fine, he is loving every single minute!!!. It seems it's often the women who struggle more than the men??, anyway I will speak to the 2 babysitters we have & see if we can come. Look forwards to seeing you soon Becky X

Ou well, we've exchanged numbers, so if you still fancy meeting before then, give us a text. Speak soon Chris & Gem
LisaIan
Would love to go for a night out but can't really commit to anything at the mo' as the OH is working v.strange hours. Was up for the last one until OH walked in at 6pm to let me know he was on nights and leaving at 9pm I didn't fancy coming on my lonesome Have you been on to British Expats? There's quite a few meet ups arranged on there, one of the most popular being a curry night @ The Spice Avenue in Birkdale, the next one's on the 9th of October. Hopefully get to catch up soon  Lisa
Guest P&K
Hi Rich, Good luck with the move. Exciting, eh? Have you been out before? Hi Becky, Yep, definitely harder for women. Men can go a year without speaking to their mums and it doesn't even register! 4 of my closest girlfriends went to Ibiza last weekend. Worst bout of homesickness I've had in a long time (or maybe I was just sulking cos I wanted to go out and play). See you tomorrow Chris & Gem. Thanks for the info about British Expats Lisa. A few people have mentioned them to me now. I think I've been avoiding it because the last time I went to a British Expats function was in SriLanka and everyone called the waiter "boy" and refused to learn Sinhali, even though they'd been in the country 20 years. I'm sure the Ozzie expats are nothing like that though! Hopefully see some of you on the 30th.
Purple Princess
Hi P&K Not been out before, just decide in April that fed up with paying through the nose to live and work in a country that has no respect for its residents, and decided enough is enough,we are selling up closing my contracts, taking little un out of school (Good school) and starting again in a new country. Ah I see, well the guys on BE seem like a really decent bunch of people and have been going to The Spice Avenue for a couple of years. I think the restaurant was rated best Indian in Australia at some point aswell......no dount that's because the owners are Poms! Apparently they are from Wolverhampton where they also own a Balti House. We're booked to go on the 9th, work permitting! Hope to meet up soon  Lisa
Guest Katherine1
Hi Kate, I emigrated here a couple of weeks ago with my Australian OH and although I have all his friends to hang out with, who have been really nice to me, it'd be nice to meet some newbys here (or relative newbys, migrants anyway!) so I don't feel so much like the outsider, especially as all his mates have known each other since they were about 10! So yep I reckon I'm up for meeting up next Friday. Only thing is I have to admit I'm a bit intimidated because everyone else seems to be coming with their other half and mines not that up for it, like I say he's got his mates, also he reckons he'd be out of place being an ozzie and all. Would I be the only person coming alone? Also I just wanted to say I sympathise with Becky saying her OH is finding it easier than her. Mine, being an Australian, is obviously finding it a breeze and is really happy to be home. That kind of makes me feel a bit lonely I guess as I'm happy to be here, for sure, but not finding the adjustment so easy, especially as we're staying with his sister for now and I can't get anyone to give me a job!! So yes could really do with drinks out with some British people. Just a bit nervous about coming by myself though, like I said. Silly I know but you know what it's like when everyone else has got their partner with them? Sorry bit of a long post! Katherine x

Lynne Hi Lynne and everyone, Does anyone know if this is still going ahead? If so where is everyone meeting? Lynne I am happy to meet up with you before hand to go to the Valley, if this is still happening - not to say I am familiar with the Valley however, but I am sure btn us should be able to make it there. Also in response to one of the other responses, if this is going ahead, I will be rocking up on my own as hubby is otherwise engaged, so don't think it will be an issue not being in a couple.... Right-o, will be checking the post in about half an hours time to see if anyone knows whats happening and have txted Kate in the meanwhile too....Hopefully catch you all soon. Cheeeeeeers Pam. the robbos
Just saw the details of your meet up, the day after, typical. We have been here a month now and have just moved into our 6 month rental in carina, 10 mins from south bank. Can now start to enjoy the city and the climate. Would love to do a meet up with anyone wanting a natter but day time works best for us at the mo as we have a 3 yr old girl. Veronica, marty and ellie.
