Guest Louey
Hi Jo & Mike How are you? We are moving to Varsity Lakes in the next few weeks from East Yorkshire. I am Jayne (38) and my partner isAngie (31). We arrive on the GC 25th January and would love to meet once we recover from our jetlag!!! Angie is a nurse and I am a physiotherapist. What do you guys do work wise? Has there been any problems with flooding in your neck of the woods? Angie will be working in Robina and I will be chief organiser and housewife for a while. Look forward to hearing from you Take care Jayne & Angie
Guest joandmike
Hi Jane & Angie, Thanks for the reply, it would be great to meet up once you arrive. We are in Varsity Lakes, and we have been very lucky that the floods didn't affect the Gold Coast. I am a nurse at the Gold Coast Hospital in Southport and Mike is a transport manager. It'd be great to catch up with you, let us know as soon as you're fit after the long journey. Thanks, Jo & Mike

djburgessuk
We have a lad who will be 18 soon and a girl of 14, live 10 mins from Varsity, not been to many pubs, too many other nice places to go !! I have to agree with this.... I used to be in the pub 3-4 times a week in the uk, but I doubt I go more than once a month now, normally just before the football (or Soccer as they insist on calling it here). Free entry at Skilled Park (Robina) this Saturday 8.15pm KO by the way. Fund raiser for the Flood appeal. Everyone meets at RQ's before the game, which has a free bus running to and from the game (3 minutes away). Back on subject though; the pub culture just isn't the same here because there is so much else to do. And that's why I love it here.
Guest alisonpayne
I know there are loads of nice places to go, we have been to most of them! You can only see them so many times. I love the idea of doing all the things you can't do back home but id be bored stupid if i didn't have a social life, had a good one back home. Thanks Alison x
djburgessuk
The point here is that your social life doesn't have to revolve around the pub.....but of course it can!!

Emma2
Hi Everyone We just arrived on the Gold Coast two and a half weeks ago, we're currently staying at Ashmore and looking for a rental. We're a family of 5, myself, husband, daughter 14 and sons 12 & 4. Kids have just started at Emmanuel College in Carrara and oh will soon be starting his job in Coomera. I'm waiting for my registration to come through (nurse) then I suppose I'd better find some work as well, although I'm not in too much of a hurry!! Would be nice to get to know some other people and get some tips on the area. Emma x

I'm a teacher so also waiting for my reg to come through! We move into our new house on Friday in Varsity Lakes.

We should try and catch up to introduce ourselves before you move on Friday. Have you sorted a school yet? And well done for securing a rental, we're finding it all a bit frustrating at the moment. I would really like to live around this sort of area but there isn't much around. We looked at one in Pacific Pines today which was lovely but a lot of road noise - I'm beginning to think that we'll have to compromise a bit though or we will be living here forever! Say hello next time you see me! Emma x
