If anyone would like to organise getting together for a drink or a day out with the kids we would love to hear from you. We arrived on the Gold Coast In October from Colchester, Essex. We are 33 & 34 with kids 3yrs and 10mths. Paul, my husband is from Colchester. I was born in Australia (my parents are '£10 Poms') but have lived in the U.K since I was 19. Returning with a family has been a bit daunting but we are getting settled and the kids are loving it. :v_SPIN:

That sounds great, our daughter will be 4 in July so she'll love your two. Paul's parents are here visiting from the U.K until 12th May so it might be easier if we meet up after they have gone back home. Are you guys free either Sat 14th or Sun 15th May? Maybe we could meet up down Broadwater Parklands or something, we went there today and the kids loved the new rock pools they have down there now. Paradise Point is good for the kids too. Anyway let us know what you think, have a great Easter. Gemma & Paul xx

Hi I'm Helen, we are living in Pimpama so not far from Oxenford at all. If it's ok with you guys I would like to meet up too. We have 2 kids, Connor is 6 nearly 7 and Natasha is 5. Only been here 4 weeks so still not met many people.

Kids are loving it here and have settled into school, but when they come home its just them 2 and would be nice for them to have other children to play with.

Get in touch if you would like to meet up.

Hi, have there been any meet ups yet? Any coffee mornings?

We have just arrived on the Gold Coast and I am very keen to meet others, especially as my daughter has now started school. I'm 37, from London and feeling at a very loose end.......! Staying in Ashmore at the moment. Aussie hubby is 34, our daughter is 8.

Hi ya,

Welcome to Queensland.

No there has been no meet-ups or coffee mornings yet. Perhaps we could organise something. I've just handed in my notice in my current job so will have some spare time after 10 June. Also there is a group called "The Brisbannittes on Facebook. Its a closed group so you need to request to join. They organise meet-ups. There's a girls night out coming up on 11th June and 25th June a meet-up for all the family, location undecided yet.

Have you got a car. If you ever fancy a coffee, we could meet up, maybe around Helensvale or somewhere.

x Helen

Hey All

We have been on the Gold Coast for 4 months I am Jayne (39) and my OH Angie (32). We don't have any kids but do have nieces and nephews back in the UK and miss having kids around. We have joined the Brisbannittes group but would love to have something closer to home. Perhaps we should set up a Gold Coast group as there seems to be lots of folks down here.

If you arrange a meet please give us a shout.....we work but are free most weekends

hi ya Jayne, sounds like a good idea. Should be free weekends now. See you're going to the next meet up of The Brisbannittes. Should see ya there, we should be there next time.

There are lots of us on the gold coast I think. I'm applying for a job at Robina hospital and have applied for 1 too. Only 20 mins on the train. Got car too so only short drive really.

hi all , just reading through the posts and would like to meet also at some point in the future . we will be arriving around early july time staying with friends on mount tamberine until we find some where to rent around the gold coast, my husband will be attending ashmore college so looking around that area , also will be needing a school for our 9 year old daughter, so any recommendations on schools and areas to rent would be really helpfull, we have also joined the group on facebook the brisbannittes and its been really helpful to read some of the things the members post and discuss. we are near manchester in the uk , will be keeping an eye out for dates to meet when we arrive . wendy

Hi

Firstly I will say upfront that I'm cheating here, I'm not technically a pom, but I believe my ancestors were, and my wife and I have both BEEN (separately) to the UK!

We're in the same boat roughly speaking, as I'm looking to move my family to the GC within the year from NSW (Gosford) and I'm doing my research on schools for our kids (2 boys aged 9 and 6) and meeting families. My wife is Annie, I'm Stuart, we're both studying at uni, I'm working for the government.

We like family stuff and socialising. In addition I like boating and golf. Annie likes craft and photography.

Get in touch!

Hi, Paul(35), emma(27) and olivia(16mths)

been on the goldcoast for 4 years, living in pacific pines.

We have a very good circle of freinds, and are always happy to meet new people.

Emma has several mums groups all over the coast which I'm sure would welcome newcomers.

I also help run a social golf club if any guys fancy a game.

Can also get golfers a game at gainsbrough greens for $25 with cart, if anyones interested.

Paul.

Hi Clare,

i'm from Colchester too! I have 2 boys, aged 10 months and 2yrs. I live in Paradise Point and would love to meet other mums. I know Gem too, we go to playgroup at Paradise point on wednesday mornings. I'm sure your little girl would love it.

Let me know if you would like to meet up with us. I don't have a car at the moment, but there is a park and beach at Paradise point that we could meet at.

Hi there

We will be on the gold coast in a couple of years time. My hubby was born out there and his parents were £10 poms!!! he came back when he was 3 but we moved out there in 2006 and came back to UK in 2008 when my daughter was 1 as we really missed the family. Times have moved on and we are planning on coming back as soon as we can save up and sort out our cars (takes 12 months to import) Our daughter is now nearly 4 and we are all keen to make this time work, so getting some good friends is going to help.

We will be aiming for Arundel area. If your still about we can arrange an Aussie/Pom get together!

Hi All,

I fell off the radar for a while there, but back now and very keen to meet other mums and make friends! We live in Southport. My daughter is 8, and is at school in Ashmore. Have found it difficult to become friendly with some of the other parents at the school as most school friendships are established earlier on.

Also wondering if anyone know of any formal or informal antenatal groups that meet for coffee etc?

Give me a shout if anyone is arranging coffee etc...

Jo :)
