Guest Sydneysyder
Does anyone have any experience of bringing a cow skin rug through customs in Australia or a woven cane laundry hamper? Are they likely to be confiscated or treated at cost. If so is the cost worth it?
Guest siamsusie
Hi Sydneysyder, http://www.daff.gov.au/aqis/travel/entering-australia/cant-take rawhide articles and handicrafts including drums... these must be declared... In many cases, items you declare will be returned to you after inspection. Some may be allowed in if accompanied by an import permit (issued by AQIS prior to arrival), or with treatment in Australia to make them safe (fees and charges apply). Cane products are not permitted. I have seen some members get hammered for charges, so personally I dont know whether it is worth it.
