Hi All

I'm hoping to meet people on the central coast, it would be good to meet people for a beer at some point , myself and my husband both work in Sydney but love living on the coast so it would be nice to get a circle of friends for dinners, barbies and meet ups.

Cheers

Hi Gellata

We're hopefully nearing the end of the very slow process of organising our move to the central coast and hope to be over by September. We'd love to start making connections as we'll know no-one in the area.

I know its a little way off buy if you don't mind, I'm going to keep your details and hopefully get in contact to meet up when we eventually get there.

Regards

Grant (wife and 2 kids)

HI Grant, yes please get in touch when you get here, where are you moving to and where from?? Sounds good hopefully we can get a social circle going...I think you will love it here but it helps to have friends around in the same boat

Hope the move goes well, take care...Amanda

Thanks Amanda, I'm going to keep my eye open for threads from people on the central coast and try to stay in touch, my wife is particularly anxious about not knowing anyone.

We're moving from Taunton in Somerset but we haven't decided exactly where on the central coast we're going to be, it'll probably be within commutable distance of Bateau Bay though

Hi there, we've just moved to Terrigal. We've got 2 children (3 and 6 months). My husband commutes to Sydney and we don't know anyone yet, so we'd love to hear about any meet-ups. We're loving this area.

Hi Everyone...

Have been meaning to respond to someof your posts but time seems to fly by and I find I haven't done it... so anyway... I have been on the Central Coast for 2 years now and I thrilled that there are more and more people wanting to move here as it is beautiful here on the Coast. I had planned on organising a meet to get everyone together who has moved to the Coast. It is a wee bit cold at the moment so I thought maybe nearer the Spring time... if any of you think it is a good idea then let me know and we will see what we can do!!

ALl the best

This is a good idea, I had thought of setting up a facebook group for people either already there and for people making the move (like me), more as a way of keeping track of who is interested in getting together than anything else. This could be "advertised" on other forums to reach as many people as possible.

I thought I'd run it by you all first to judge interest, is it worth doing?

Thanks

Grant

Hi Nikci

I'll give it a go, it might be easier to set up a page than a group but I think it'll achieve the same thing.

As for where we're headed, it might sound odd but at the moment it's a bit of an unknown, my job will initially see me travelling between erina and newcastle and various locations in-between. This shouldn't be for long and then we'll find somewhere to settle as soon as it's feasible.

I'll post as soon as I get the facebook page organised and hopefully it'll be inundated with 'members' :-)

I have set up a facebook group (my first attempt at it so might be a bit rusty) as a way of gathering details of expats on the central coast that would be interested in socialising.

The group is called 'Central Coast Expats' so please join if you're on facebook. If you have trouble then let me know but it will only work if as many people as possible join.

Grant

(I'm going to be posting this in various threads about the central coast so you'll probably come across it again)

Hi my husband and I live on the central coast and would love to meet up.. My husband is missing his mates and is football mad.. Would love to meet up for a drink if anyone is keen 

Tell your husband Im missing my pals and the rapidly approaching football season already and I've not even left yet. New buddies definitely required to get in the odd scrape with and laugh my head off at very regular intervals with however if he favours those known as West bromwich Albion then sadly all bets will be off. would be ace to meet up when we get over. Land on 2nd september and straight up to umina. Got our let all ready to roll. we are Joe and Sophie and we've 2 nippers. Eddie (4) and Jeannie (6). Cheers.

Its a matter of finance really kylie as most things are in the end. Live in Sydney in a 2 bedroom flat and spend the next 20 years killing ourselves to pay for it or move an hour up the coast and have a bit of real Australia with all the trappings for half the money. we want a nice house near the coast for a bit of a different life to what weve had before and it was just a case of finding where. We had a reccie last year and discovered Umina beach and liked it. Its possibly a little quiet compared to what were used to but train station close and Sydney no distance for big nights out when we need a fix. Just ticks alot of boxes for us at this stage and a good starting point. im a special needs teacher and theres quite a few units and corrective facilities in the area so hopefully work will sort itself without having to get down to sydney on a daily basis.

What about you two. how come umina??

Well I was actually born here in Umina haha and my husband is from London.. We lived in the UK for a couple of years and then thought we would move over here to see how things went.. I can completely understand the financial side of Sydney Vs the Central Coast...

My husband works in a nursery and I work for an Orthopaedic Surgeon...

It must be stressful for you guys at the moment... i suppose you have worked out your house ect for when your over here... the worst bit is the flight haha
