benandkelly
Has anyone heard of this? John Mason's are the only shippers who have mentioned to us that Aussie customs have started pulling containers and ordering them to be 'decontaminated' on the outside only. Is this true or is it BS? Cheers all Ben & Kelly
Guest
Have a search of the forum as this was posted about recently I recall. I think it was just them and there was a small insurance fee you could take out to cover it or some such.

AndrewC
Ahem, Decontamination of containers . . A new way of gaining extra fees. The shipping line must ensure the container is clean and dry for loading. If not the removal company should turn it away and demand a new container. There are movers offering a decontamination insurance, so that should Au Quarantine not be happy with the container condition ( inside & out ) the owner of the goods will not face a cleaning charge. This is nonsense. I understand the fee is low enough to be worth paying 'just in case' for peace of mind.
Sids knee
I agree, surely the shipping line has to be responsible for the state of the container. If it is 'insurance' then who is the insurer ?
