Hi Danny,

have you looked at our backpacker/WHV threads ... http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/backpacking-whv/ That may offer some help for you.

Also if you are heading for a particular area take a look at our sister sites for the various areas. you may find them useful. They can be found on the welcome page in the abbreviations sticky thread.

Hey danny , welcome ,

Make a note of my user name and keep an eye on my movements ,

Im moving to OZ on a PR visa , a little later than you , maybe june , july . Im doing a years tour of OZ in a camper before i settle down into work and the rest of my life , Im sure at some point we'll be in the same area ,

If you want a lift and to spend a few weeks ( or however long ) getting some good distance in, gimme a shout .

wont cost you anything , i'll probably be glad of the company !! Unless your boring ?? ha ha .

starting at Perth and doing the 360 Deg clockwise , unless its rainy season , in wich case ill be going anti clockwise to avoid the floods.

Mark ? lee ? close enough bob ! ha ha ...

sounds a good plad bud . like i said keep an eye on my movements .

trade test , state sponsorship to go then visa app so fingers crossed for a quick turn around .

essentially after ive sold everything and shut down UK life ill be heading to perth to start , good sized modern camper , it could be home for me for 3 years as im heading to the mines for work , no point in getting a house for 2 months a year .. !!

it will be site seeing and an adventure , maybe a little work if i fancy it and want to hang around a certain area for a bit , out of interest how old are you , have u a driving licence ?

Interested in any of the following ,

scuba diving ( i will be doing my ocean diver quals at some point , takes a week )

walking and camping ( some amazing islands on the east coast that i will be visiting and doing the trails )

skiing ( been a few years but blu mountains for a week )

surfing and ocean based fun ( a few lessons , my own board and will be practicing at every opportunity )

beer !!!!!!!!! im responsible with regards to doing my activities clear headed , but come the time i like to party hard )

roughing it ?? the camper will as said be well upto scratch but im going native to conserve funds , no hotels

driving ??????????????? darwin to alice springs alone is about 1500 miles , 300 miles from alice to Ayres rock and then back up to darwin 3 days later!! )

bad jokes , ?? i have thousands

Ill be honest and say that although every city will be getting a look in , im only going there to say ive done it . would rather a week fruit picking than city life

lastly what do you do for a living ?? looking to do eventually if u get to oz ??

lee.

Haha, I was speaking to someone named Mark as i was typing that bit!

Yes I will keep an eye on your posts and where you are at.

Sounds perfect! Would be good to try working in some areas if they seem

I am 20, will be be 21 in March and i am close to finishing my driving so i will have my license. And yourself?

I have never done scuba diving, but i am interested in walking, camping and anything adventurous! I can also Ski, and i can drink beer.. if needs be obviously haha!

I would rather be in a camper than switching from hotel to hotel and i will have my license so driving is not a problem.

Currently working for a company in Lancashire running websites and webstores, I am also a qualified stop smoking advisor. I am looking to move to Australia, but it will be good to go around and see which places i prefer.

A good post, mate.icon14.png The Wet in the north is from Dec to March...usually. So, any time from April through to November is ok.

Did all that adventuring many, many times and never got tired of it.

Cheers, Bobj.

Hey bob , merry xmas ,

I always wanted to head north from the start but have come to realise that its just plain stupid if i will be in that area during the wet .

giving myself 2-3 months to get to cairns at wich point i should be ok , north western highway , onto the great northern highway then head south on the stuart to alice springs ,head back up north and its a right turn, east on the Berkley to townsville then upto cairns / cooktown

Lots of little detours id like to see along the way ,

God frobid my visa drags on or im stuck here untill oct , nov 2012 i wont risk it and go south from perth ..

while ive got u bob ,

Cape york ???????????????????? 4x4 only i understand , anyone done it on a bike ?? with spare fuel , plenty of water and being well prepared ??????????

Evening Lee,

That's not a problem, im mature for my age and the majority of my friends are older than myself.

Sounds great! Im sure we will find something to take your mind of the cigarettes haha.

Im a pretty good cook, so i could cook for us, clean and anything else i can do to chip in along with the food.

Happy for you mate, that's what i want to try and do.

Where did you look for jobs?

Thank you, yeah good luck to you mate :)

I was looking on the Seek but i found my job because my new employer specialise in the same software as my company over here, so thankfully i didn't have to go through the whole process of sending out CV's etc...
