derham
We undertok our meds on Thursday, police checks are in and now we are waiting but with the wait the doubts creep in, what if? Has anyone had bad news on their meds if so did you manage to overcome it?
Guest
To be honest, if there had been anything serious enough to fail your medical the doctor would have told you - they wouldn't allow you to be untreated.

Guest
I was terrified that my chest X-ray or pee was going to show something abnormal. As well as my white coat high blood pressure - was a complete bag of nerves.
derham
Well my Pee was okay, blood pressue fine, no issues during the examination but the radiographer said my sons X-ray was fine no issues but at mine she said the doctors would look at it tomorrow and it would take 7 days to get the bloods back. I'll be a nervous wreck by the time i get to Oz (if I get there).

mtlboi
OMG... Nobody can be more of a wreck than I was! I was even shaking when it came time to ring and make the appointment! The staff at the Edinburgh location were amazing and calming. However, I was still so nervous my bp was at 160/100... It took 2 more readings before they got it to normal. I was so relieved when it was all over, but of course, had to wait a week to see if I would receive a "dreaded phonecall"... Which obviously never came. In the months leading up to the medical I had practically thought I had every disease ever known to man. Our minds play crazy tricks on us.... You're totally fine as they would have said something to you before you left the clinic... All the very best to you for the rest of your adventure!! jimithechew
Had ours on the 31/12/11, they had blood results the next working day, uploaded all our stuff. mine and the 2 nippers have had our medicals passed/approved/met, however the misses has had hes referred, (a pre existing condition) :frown: its been a few days now and nothing, not even an email from HOC letting us know the latest, or indeed exactly why (though we have a feeling why) Am nervous for sure, meds cost us about £620 and 2 hours, 26 minutes parking cost......£33 !!!! Well it was next to 'Harrods' but still £33!!!
Guest intheworld44
We were not looking foward to the x ray etc then my wife found that the rules had changed (for 457 visa) and if from UK were no longer required, spoke to migration agent who didnt know this, they checked and was correct - saved a whole heap of grief and cost. Quinkla
We undertok our meds on Thursday, police checks are in and now we are waiting but with the wait the doubts creep in, what if? Has anyone had bad news on their meds if so did you manage to overcome it? I failed my medical. I have a long term health condition which may give me problems in old age but should be fine for the next 20-30 years. I was called up by my CO and told I had failed the health requirement and that he would prepare a case to go to the immigration minister for a waiver. Meanwhile, I paid for a further examination by a specialist who wrote a report which set out statistics and concluded that he did not believe there was evidence to suggest I would be a significant burden on the Australian state in the next several years. I ntalked to my CO and sent in a copy of the report. I had never actually been sent the official failure report from the Australian Medical Officers but I understand the decision was reviewed by the Chief Medical Officer who overturned the outcome in my case. The only official contact I had was an e-mail about 3 qweeks after I was told I had failed to say that my visa had been granted. People can and do fail medicals and it is very distressing. Guest kianobeano
HI , I was going to start a thread nearer my time of medicals myself. (I hope you dont mind me butting in !) My son is 5 he was born with a congenital heart defect (tetralogy of fallot). He has had his op at 4 mths and we have an annual check up to see if we need another one at any stage (which is unlikely as it was successfull) but after reading your post about your son having an x ray I had myself convinced it was only adults who needed it done. Starting to panic now our visa agent seems to think it'l be fine , but well , you never know whos at the other end of these paper excercises ! If anyone has similar experiences I'd be greatfull of your advice Thanks.

I would tell them every major thing that has happened to you or your kids, I understand where is coming from by saying tell them everything is fine but you cannot lie, the consequences could be catastrophic. Honesty is the best policy! the misses has had her meds referred (as we suspected) and today they were finalised...though were not sure (until our CO updates our file) if its pass or fail!!!!! Good luck

Has anyone had bad news on their meds if so did you manage to overcome it? I have not read about anyone failing their medicals by diac - the doctors will usually tell you right there and then if there is a problem. On the other hand, what I have read about people failing is their IELTS

The doctor will tell you if there is an issue but it is the Medical Officers of the Commonwealth who decide whether or not it means you do not meet the health requirement. The examining doctor has no idea what will and will not cause a failure.
sribha77
Hi, Could you share your experience, whether you had positive medical from DIAG. I am planning to raise EOI now for applying visa 189. My son who is 18 months old now, had tetralogy of fallot. Defect was fully repaired when he 4.5 months old and is normal now. As you are aware, he may or may not require Pulmonary Valve replacement at a later stage of his life. I am in a confusion, whether his medical will go through. He was operated by Dr. Victor Tsang, Chief Pediatric cardiothoracic surgeon, Great Ormond Street Hosp. London. Please guide me. Regards, HI , I was going to start a thread nearer my time of medicals myself. (I hope you dont mind me butting in !) My son is 5 he was born with a congenital heart defect (tetralogy of fallot). sribha77
Thanks for your replies. I will start a new thread. Just to answer to Que, my MARA agent doesnt have a proper answer for this medical condition. I am trying to get details from someone who had similar experience.
