Guest Melbourne Mark
Hi,I've had a recent change in my relationship status and need to reinvent my social life! Most of the people I know are couples and have kids so are doing family things on a weekend.Anybody out there still going for drinks in the city on a weekend?Would love to meet up if so.Cheers,Mark. Inthedeep
Mark there's a good group on meetup.com .. Fairly young, mic of singles, couples .. Not kid orientated. Look for Melbourne British expats ..nthey do drinking nights, lawn bowls, there's a paintball one coming up etc. Have been to a few and met some great people. What suburb do you live in? Guest Melbourne Mark
Hi, thanks for the heads up on this. I did have a look online but all I could find was dating websites which is not what I am after as I want to go out and have a laugh for a while and build up a social network. I'll take a look into this. I'm in Point Cook - but happy to travel and in terms of going for a few beers I would rather go into the city either way. Cheers, Mark. Inthedeep
Hey Mark .. no worries. Meetup in general is actually a great tool .. theres plenty of other 'groups' but this one seems canny for a start. Theres no judgement form anyone, and it doesnt feel like it's an internet based type thing .. which is good as that can feel a bit awkward lol! Me and my partner are hoping to be mvoed to Point Cook in the next few months .. live in Port Melbourne now but need more spoace as our place is just too cramped with us and our 2 dogs - i know there aint much in choice with bars around Point Cook area but im sure we'd be up for a drink once there. Though like you we will likely still head to the city for a proper night out, theres a night out organised on this forum on 3rd March too --> http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/socialising-get-togethers/138261-melbourne-drinks-3-march.html which always seems to attract a few people and a nice crowd. Guest Melbourne Mark
Hi Steve, yeah I've registered for a few of the groups on meetup - just the sort of thing I was looking for! Give me a shout when you are in Point Cook and I'll buy you a pint but as you say the choice of venues is a bit limited! Saying that I will probably stay here - I would really only go out boozing on either a Friday or Saturday night so the extra $60 home in a cab is worth it to me to have the extra space - like you I have a couple of dogs so I need a reasonable sized garden - plus I back onto the golf course at Sanctuary Lakes and it's just a case of walking out of the back garden onto the course to walk them which is great.
