Guest EJPowell
Hiya!I've been in Australia for nearly 3 years now and finding it very hard to make friends that I can chat to over a few glasses of bubbly on a regular basis. I've found that even though where I work there are a lot of other girls that they are not as social as back in the UK. Everyone is really friendly but no-one meets up outside of work.I've just turned 30 and currently live in Newcastle NSW with my husband & younger brother (he's on a holiday visa) & i enjoy spending time with them but its just not the same as a girly get together!! I would love to meet like minded people that love to meet up & chat about everything girly as i'm getting home sick for my friends in the UK:cute: Emma x
MARYROSE02
Your Aussie workmates sound unusual for NOT wanting to go out after work for drinks. Sydney pubs are all packed with both sexes after work. My niece always seems to be out with her girlfriends (when she's not with her boyfriend.) Maybe try some other ways to meet people? Join some clubs, go to classes - dancing, cooking, whatever, at your local community college. Google 'Meet Ups' and see if there are any that interest you in your area. dxboz
I agree with you MaryRose sounds very unusual not to go for drinks after work and that's when you get to know people and socialise at other times. I actually find aussies more social than their UK counterparts - Met two of my best friends at work in Oz and many other friends also. Think it might just be where you are working. Definitely a good idea to explore other avenues. If I was in NSW I would meet up with you but I am not - I know what it is like to miss your mates - mine are spread around the world - hope you find somewhere where you can meet like minded people x

I am 31 and like you could do with meeting up and having a girly chat, and going out for a few drinks. I am going a bit stir crazy at the minute as we only know a few people, and I could do with meeting some good friends. Please inbox me if you fancy meeting up. I live in Aberglasslyn, but dont mind comming down to Newcastle for a few drinks, I could get my hubby to drop me off, if you fancy it. Karen. x
